Helping ADD and ADHD is like solving a jigsaw
puzzle:
In one of the first
ezines ever published all those years ago we presented to subscribers the
idea that ADD and ADHD could be helped if you saw the solution as
a series of jigsaw pieces, all connecting to make a whole and holistically
making a difference.
Recently we received a book
that takes that underlying philosophy and suggests to you all the
pieces to try.
In the preface, I quote,"
If your child is inattentive and impulsive, you doctor may have told you
that he has attention-deficient disorder (ADD). If he is restless, unable
to sit still and overactive, your doctor may have labeled him as attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) If you are frustrated, confused and
exhausted, you have a lot of company. More than 2 million children in the
United States are though to have ADD or ADHD. Helping your child with behavior
and health problems resembles solving a jigsaw puzzle.
Different children have different
puzzle pieces. For example for one child, one "piece" of the puzzle might
be sensitivities to common foods and additives. A "piece" for another child
might be a marginal iron deficiency. You and your doctor will have to identify
the nutritional and biochemical "pieces" of the puzzle that are important
for your child and fit them together to form a complete puzzle of
a healthy, happy, emotionally stable child."
A recent email from a subscriber
confirms to us that it is so important to look into these puzzle pieces.
He wrote ," I'm shocked, this all hits so close to home. Our family has
a history of sensitivity to metals. For example, when my niece had an amalgam
filling put in (her first), she had nausea and less energy, it was removed
shortly after and she is now fine again (a national track champion!). Symptoms,
such as heat sensitivity, exist in the family, as do asthma and allergies.
My brother had his amalgam filling replaced (with a resin composite), and
says he feels like a new person (he looks better, great).
This then is the whole direction
of this excellent book,
