"This was my first time visiting this web site. I will be back to retrieve more stories, as well as looking for more ideas and planning strategies to teach my class better. I teach mainly children who are behaviourally and emotionally challenged. Keep up the good work." David F.: "I am a parent of two children, a school social worker at an elementary school, and I teach character education to classes. I make extensive use of your stories. Thanks so much for an awesome web site! Keep up the good work."
So, what are they all talking about? Whootie Owl's Storytime Series is an educational product that's available entirely online. It is a multimedia presentation of stories pitched to different ability levels and of high interest to students, parents and teachers. For those parents struggling to help their ADD/ADHD family through the Education minefield these days, these stories could be a big help.
Through international tales, basic values of trust, friendship, love, honesty and so on are quietly brought into focus for the student. The tales are aimed at children who need visual, interesting material and there is even the opportunity to customise the stories by filling in the child’s name to make them feel special. This can become more meaningful to someone with attention difficulties, as they have now become
personalised!
Each tale comes complete with downloadable worksheets that become teaching tools. As someone who has been involved in Education for nearly thirty years, I can see the worth of something like this for vulnerable students in the system as well as those trying to share the skills with them!
The opportunity is there to boost Reading skills relating to Main Idea, Plot, Setting and Character analysis. As effective Reading is the building block of much of what we do I see this as being particularly of interest if you are a Home schoolers!
Highly recommended. To access the books, you can get free demos on the webpages. To get the rest of them, you pay for a password and download the books from the website, printing them out on your home printer.
